Meet Cori Myrick of PadSplit and Open Invitation Holdings LLC
Today, we’re excited to introduce you to Cori Myrick — a passionate real estate investor and purpose-driven entrepreneur who’s tackling the affordable housing crisis head-on. With her unique role as both an employee at PadSplit and the owner of Open Invitation Holdings LLC, Cori is creating powerful solutions that not only generate financial freedom but also transform communities. Her work focuses on using existing spaces in creative ways to open doors for individuals who are often left without affordable options.
We had the chance to learn more about her journey, what inspired her to dive into entrepreneurship, and how she’s combining profit with purpose in a truly meaningful way.
Hi Cori, we’re excited to chat with you today. Let’s start with something fun — how do you personally define what it means to be an entrepreneur?
It’s about seeing opportunity where others see obstacles and taking calculated risks to build something that didn’t exist before — something that solves real problems. For me, it’s not just about chasing profits; it’s about creating value, generating impact, and building freedom.
An entrepreneur is someone who bets on themselves — who turns vision into action, setbacks into strategy, and hustle into legacy. Whether it's negotiating deals, designing spaces, or developing scalable systems, entrepreneurship is the ultimate expression of creativity, ownership, and resilience.
Tell us a bit about your journey! What led you to take the leap into entrepreneurship?
I’m someone who’s always been drawn to creating — not just ideas, but actual solutions. I started in real estate because I saw it as a path to both financial freedom and community impact. Over time, I realized I didn’t want to just work in systems — I wanted to build better ones.
What pushed me into entrepreneurship was the frustration of watching opportunities get wasted — whether it was underutilized properties, broken housing models, or outdated thinking. I wanted more control, more creativity, and more room to grow. So I made the leap.
Now, every day is about building something that lasts — something that makes money, but also makes a difference. That balance is what drives me.
Can you tell us more about your work? What problem does your business solve and what makes your approach unique?
The impact PadSplit solves is both immediate and systemic. At its core, PadSplit addresses the affordable housing crisis — not by building new units, but by optimizing what already exists. We take underutilized single-family homes and convert them into safe, clean, and affordable co-living spaces for working individuals who are often priced out of traditional rentals.
It’s not just about housing — it’s about access. PadSplit members save hundreds per month, build credit, and get back on their feet faster. For cities, it means fewer people in shelters or sleeping in cars. And for property owners like me, it creates a sustainable business model that’s both profitable and impactful.
So the impact is layered — it supports individuals, improves neighborhoods, and redefines what housing solutions can look like in real time.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a business owner, and how did you work through it?
Since I carry multiple hats (business owner and employee), my biggest challenge is keeping all the plates spinning and managing time! I am incredibly passionate about real estate investing and about PadSplit and its impact on our communities.
Entrepreneurship can be tough. How do you stay inspired and keep pushing forward?
At my core, I am inspired by the vision and mission of impact investing. Impact investing is about putting your money where your values are. It means investing not just for financial returns, but for measurable social or environmental outcomes too.
For me, it’s about using real estate as a tool to solve real problems — like the affordable housing shortage — while still generating solid returns. It’s not charity, and it’s not speculation. It’s strategic, purpose-driven investing that aims to leave communities better than we found them.
At the end of the day, impact investing is about aligning profit with purpose — because doing good and doing well shouldn’t be mutually exclusive.
What’s next for you? Any exciting projects or goals coming up?
Launching the Nashville market for PadSplit is my next big passion project. I am excited to bring an impact to the great city of Nashville and help make a difference in the community.
How do you personally define success? Has that definition evolved for you over time?
Success, to me, is freedom with impact. It’s waking up with purpose, doing work that aligns with my values, and creating something that outlives me.
It’s not just about the money — though financial freedom matters — it’s about the choices that freedom gives me: to invest in people, in community, and in the kind of legacy I want to leave.
Success means building systems that work when I’m not there, creating opportunities for others, and knowing that what I’m doing is making a real difference. If I can grow wealth, solve problems, and bring others up with me? That’s success.
